Under direct supervision, assigned daily work. May explain instructions and documentation to plan work activities. Helps coordinate movement of materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site. Completes and reviews records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean up activities. Job may require moderate to heavy lifting. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience.

Incumbent will

have own tools and at least 4 years experience in Pipe welding. Must have experience welding stainless and other metals of various sizes and thicknesses. Work will be located in shop and out in field.

Responsible for

lay out, assembly, and install of pipe systems of steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems, applying knowledge of system operation, and following blueprints. Also, included, but not limited to preparing weld operations by cutting, shaping pipe using power-saws, torches, and grinders.

Pipe Fitting tasks will take place in shop as well as the field. Successful incumbent will have their own tools and be able to pass both a criminal background check and on site drug test.

Conduct assessment to verify work pieces are free of defect and conform to set specifications.

Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.

Install and repair various types of pipe and tubular products according to set plans and appropriate codes.

Cut pipe using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe-cutting machine.

Determine the materials and position most suitable for a welding operation.

Ensure pipe welding equipment is in good working order and serviced regularly.

Secure pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand tools and power tools.

Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to check gap allowances, grooves, or angles.

Measure and fabricate pipe routings to match in-line piping systems.

May weld pipe supports to structural steel members.

May operate machinery to verify repair.

Respiratory protection is common and may be required.

Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.

Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with both internal and external customers.

Must be able to consistently lift 50ibs.

Strong technical and mechanical acumen.
