Principal Specialist, Project Controls

Responsible for leading a team of one or more project controls specialists, working independently on a project or leading a project controls process on a major EPC project. Responsible for all aspects of cost control including trending, analysis, forecasting, change control, cash flow and reporting. Reviews project costs incurred by category, calculates future costs based on labor productivity, material price increases, subcontract, wage rates and risk analysis. Ensures the development and completion of job progress milestones through scheduling. Coordinates with procurement and material mangers as well as engineering work group leads pertaining to essential items of supply. Provides priorities for projects to guarantee completion. Contributes to forecasts and disbursements by performing schedule analysis. Under broad direction, is accountable for the performance and results of multiple related disciplines or sub-groups within the project controls function. Manages the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to managers or professional staff. Uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems. Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. May direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members. Participates in the development of project controls strategy and may be responsible for global processes and procedures in estimating, project risk control, cost control, and scheduling. Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and 14 years of experience.
