For each pursuit a Proposal Manager will be assigned specifically to that pursuit and will work alongside the Proposal Director.
The Proposal Director is the senior most responsible person within the Business Unit tasked with winning work.
The Proposal Manager will support the Proposal Director and will report to the head of the Proposal Support Group.
Specifically the Proposal Manager will ensure the smooth production of a proposal and that the final document follows best practice, delivers our key messages, is presented well, reads well and is submitted on time, without last minute panics.
The proposal manager is responsible for:
Completion of expressions of interest and prequalification questionnaires
Review of client documents
Developing proposal budgets with proposal directors for submission to the Head of Business Acquisition for approval
Creating proposal schedule including risk workshops, internal reviews and corporate approvals
Leading proposal start-up activities
Management of collaborative workspace for proposals
Facilitate workshops to develop win themes and bid strategies
Develop writing templates and structures
Work with proposal directors to assign authors to all sections of the proposal
Authoring sections of proposals
Managing client documents and updates
Ensuring proposals are responsive to invitation to tender documents
Coordination of proposal team and proposal support group efforts
Monitoring proposal budgets
Review of proposals prior to submission
Work with proposal coordinators (document control, proposal printing)
Compilation and issue of business unit weekly and monthly reports
Support and maintenance of the opportunity management system
Formatting and coordination support where required
Excellent Interpersonal skills – bids by their nature require frequent interchange of information and interaction with others.
The individual must be an excellent communicator and team player
Writing skills – must be able to write bid text with persuasive and compelling arguments / justification on why KBR should be chosen.
Must be able to edit and review work of others
Deadlines – works well under pressure of tight deadlines
Organisational skills – proposals will be authored by a large team of people, ownership/location of documents must be known at all times
Flexibility – based in Leatherhead.
Some evening or weekend work may be required on tight bid deadlines.
Proactive and decisive nature.
Applicant must have experience working in a bidding environment, ideally in defence or engineering/project management.
Proposal management training and/or certification (APMP, Shipley, etc.) would be an advantage
