To maintain the serviceability of the Joint Operational Fuels System (JOFS) and the MoD’s fleet of Aviation Refuelling Vehicles
Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnostic fault finding, inspections and modifications to vehicles and refuelling equipment.
Routine servicing of Hydraulic power packs
Refurbishment and testing of refuelling couplings.
Assembly and testing of hose assemblies.
Refurbishment and testing of breakaway couplings.
Carry out training/mentoring of apprentices.
Driving through continuous improvement
Ensure that the facilities, and those that work in the facilities, apply the principles of Quality, Health and Safety, COSHH, Engineering Hygiene, Risk Assessments and safe working practices in a hazardous environment.
A recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship, City & Guilds
Be highly motivated, strong, confident and articulate. Be client facing and have good people skills and a sound communicator.
Substantial knowledge of the principles and construction of Bulk Fuel Handling Systems, Aviation Refuelling Vehicles and the working of their major components.
3 years’ experience in the assembly, refurbishment and testing of aviation refuelling hose and couplings
A thorough understanding of the operation and testing of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
Planned and reactive maintenance management, including scheduling major servicing & minor refurbish/regeneration programs.
Working within an ISO 9000 compliant environment
Understanding and appreciation of the underlying principles of ISO 14000 and ISO 18000 compliance. Have a comprehensive knowledge of Lean Engineering & Quality Inspection techniques
The candidate is expected to be computer literate in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
