The role:

As the business unit CTO you’ll have a major say in how our Business is shaped in order to deliver success. You’ll be


for developing the strategy for Business Unit technology & digitilisation; information security; systems architecture; and the delivery of technology programmes that underpin the strategy. The CTO will be the

energy that drives

the digital transformation of the business unit.

The CTO is responsible for the 70-strong systems group based in the KBR Leatherhead office and deployed to GS EMEA project sites across the UK and EMEA region. The group


information systems, digital solutions, information and management capability

across our business unit, including:

Business development – pre-sales advisory support on systems and solutions

Business acquisition – development of technical and commercial proposals to clients

Operations – system design, implementation/role out, delivery and ongoing support to operations

Business systems – design and delivery of systems, tools and analytics used to manage the business unit; selection and management of specialist technology suppliers; coordination with corporate departments



Hold or able to obtain UK MOD and Home Office based security clearance.

Hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent in an information technology, software engineering, business, or a related subject.


MBA, master’s degree or management qualification in a relevant subject.

Membership of a professional institute – e.g. BCS, CITP etc.

Not only will you have your finger on the pulse of the industry, you’ll also be able to harness the appropriate developments for the benefit of KBR.

The ability to create a digital / technology strategy and implement it

Proven ability to manage the delivery of services group solutions and services, including leading large, complex project mobilisations

Strong leadership skills and with ability to develop high performing teams

Good commercial acumen, with demonstrable experience in delivering robust,

cost effective technology solutions to business challenges.

Good negotiation skills able to influence to achieve a positive outcome.

Excellent written and oral communication skills,

with the ability to present complex data and arguments in a way that is accessible to everyone.

Able to operate at senior management levels both within the organisation and with GS EMEA clients and potential clients

Experience in technical and commercial proposal development for PSG solutions and services.

Excellent relationship management skills, able to build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Good knowledge of GS EMEA markets and customers

A high level of motivation, flexibility, drive, and personal commitment

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

Lead the creation and delivery of the digital strategy process to ensure alignment with business strategy, vision and objectives

Management of the services group to meet business and contractual requirements, in accordance with KBR policies and procedures, and in line with business objectives and financial targets

Lead and develop the services group, including recruitment, individual development and performance management

Financial responsibility for all services group budgets, including planning and management

Review and sign off of services group commercial and technical proposals

Ownership and maintenance of services group processes as part of the overall quality management system

Ownership of key technology supplier relationships

Be the internal focal point for technology and digitalisation within GS EMEA, interface with corporate departments as the GS EMEA representative

Drive continuous improvement and change, ensuring the business has fit-for-purpose, technical solutions to maximise performance and delivery
